Shakespeare Walla Walla is dedicated to the education of young actors.

School-based Program
The Education Program has expanded and became a part of the schools’ curriculum. SWW worked with English and Drama teachers in the Walla Walla and Waitsburg schools to design a program that enhanced the 9th grade classroom experience to help the students meet Washington State grade level expectations in literature, communications and the arts

Last year, approximately 650 students encountered Shakespeare in the classroom. Teaching artists/actors from the Seattle Shakespeare Company brought an "on your feet and push back the desks" setting to the students. During four consecutive days, student were immersed in the world of Shakespeare. they learned about the Elizabethan court and world as well as the rich use of vocabulary and iambic pentameter through immersion in scenes from "Romeo and Juliet". Students learned stage combat and Elizabethan dance and were given tools for text interpretation that will become life-long skills. On the fifth day, the six teaching artists/actors performed "Romeo and Juliet" for all of the students involved allowing them to see their lessons come alive.

The 2011 program has expanded to include all of the 7th graders and several more schools.
